1: Keep it down
Keep it down means to be quiet, do not be noisy, pipe down
Dad called to us, "Keep it down, eh. We're trying to go to sleep."
Note:
(1)I'm all fingers and thumbs this morning. I don't seem to be able to button up my shirt. (2)He was so excited that his fingers were all thumbs and he dropped the teacup.
3. middle finger :

a)Ten animals I slam in a net.
Otto saw pup ; pup was Otto.
Was it a car or a cat I saw ?
Was it a rat I saw ?
b)the bee's knees
[例] She is a very poor singer but she thinks she's the bee's knees.

它们是Clement Clarke Moore (1779-1863 美国作家)所写的‘A Visit from St. Nicholas’1823作品里出现的Dasher、Dancer、Prancer、Vixen、Comet、Cupid、Donner、Blitzen等8头

the world is my oyster
if the world is my oyster The Merry Wives of Windsor (1600)Ⅱ、ⅱ、2中,恶棍Pistol对决意不肯借钱的Sir John Falstaff说、“Why then the world's mine oyster, / Which I with sword will open.”(这个世界如同我的牡蛎一样,我可以用刀子把它撬开。)

horses for courses

(The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland),简称为联合王国,缩写为the U.K. 。 PRC =the People's Republic of China中国(中华人民共和国) CAN = Canada 加拿大 US = USA = the United States of America 美国(美利坚合众国) UK = the United Kingdom (of Great Britain and Northern Ireland)英国(大不列颠及北爱尔兰联合王国) 大写字母不仅能代表国家名称的缩略形式,还有许多的用途,例如:厕所WC;世界贸易组织WTO;光盘CD等。
Do you often take a taxi? 俗话说: “When in Rome, do as Romans do.”(入乡随俗), 所以我们也要知道一些人家的风俗。In America, if you sit ahead when you take a taxi, the driver will be very happy. But if you sit at the back, the driver will not say a word to you. Don't let a black cat across your path是西方人众所周知的禁忌。 a)Ten animals I slam in a net.

②整体记忆: 把几个字母看作一个整体来记 如 : “ow” 再加上不同的字母,可组成 how, cow, low, now, town, down, know ” 等 ; “ight” ,再在前面 加上不同的字母,可组成 eight, light, right, fight, night, 等。 (1)I'm all fingers and thumbs this morning. I don't seem to be able to button up my shirt. (2)He was so excited that his fingers were all thumbs and he dropped the teacup.

Excuse me. Where could I wash my hands?
That’s Ok. Stay. She only wants to wash her hands.
Hi! What’s the good word?
My God! I don’t know the good word. I’ve studied English for years, but no one told me about the good word!
Hello. What’s the good word?
Oh, not much.
What’s the good word?
I need a head count telling the number of people in your factory, the number of people in your office, broken down by sex.
在上面的传真里,broken down by sex是“按照性别分开”的意思,但是分公司的外国职员没有理解“broken down by sex”的意思。
Here is your head count. Here we have thirty-five people in our factory, fifteen people in our office, five people in the hospital, none broken down by sex.
And if you really must know, our problem down here is with alcohol.
