一、watch

watch用作名詞時意思是「看守」,表示抽象的動作,也可指「看守者」「水手值班的一班」,舊時還可指「巡夜警察」。

二、never

1、含義:adv. 永不;絕不;從不;未曾。

2、用法

never作「永不,絕不」解,表示全部否定,一般指經常性的狀態,不用於修飾一次性的具體動作。

never一般位於系動詞及助動詞之後,實義動詞之前; 如修飾動詞不定式或分詞,則要放在不定式或分詞前。

I will never forget your kindness.

三、usually

1、含義:adv. 通常;經常。

2、用法

usually是頻度副詞,意思是「常常」「習慣於」,有遵循常規的意思,其經常性約為90%。

usually只能用作狀語,位於實義動詞之前,系動詞、助動詞或情態動詞之後,也可放在句首或句末表示強調。用於否定句時,多位於實義動詞與系動詞、助動詞或情態動詞的中間。

I usually wake up early.

我通常醒得很早。

四、snake

1、含義:n. 蛇;狡詐的人;v. 蜿蜒;拖曳。

2、用法

直接源自古英語的snaca,意為蛇。

snake的基本意思是「蛇」,喻指「冷酷陰險的人」「虛偽的人」「卑鄙的人」。

The snake coiled itself around the tree.

蛇盤繞在樹上。

五、under

1、含義:prep. 低於;在 ... 下;在 ... 內;在 ... 控制下;adv. 在昏迷中;在 ... 下;adj. 下面的;從屬的;少於的。

2、用法

under表示靜止的空間位置時,意思是「在…的正下方」「在…的下面」; 也可指在某物的腳邊或底下,即「在…底下」「在…腳下」; 還可指在人身體某部位之下;有時還可引申表示「在…遮蔽〔保護〕之下」。

1. every 與 each 的區別:

every 用來表整體,each 用來表個別。each 最低需是兩,every 最低需是三。every adj.

every 作主用單數,each 可單也可復,作主、作定用單數,其他情況用復數。 each adj./ pron.

There are lots of trees on each side of the road.

Each of the road has a dictionary.

2. on the earth 在地球上,作地點狀語,位於句首或句末。 on earth 究竟,到底。用於疑問句或副詞後,加強語氣。

3. human, 指包括男人女人孩子的「人,人類」,有別於動物,自然景物,機器等的特殊群體,也可指具體的人。

person, 無性別之分,常用於數目不太大,而且數目比較精確的場合。

people, 泛指「人們」,表示復數概念。

man,前不帶冠詞而且單獨使用時,指「男人」,a man 可指「一個人/ 一個男人」,復數形式為men.

4. seem 連系動詞,好像,似乎,看來。有下面幾種用法:

seem + 名詞 看起來。He seems a nice man.

seem like 好像,似乎。 It seemed like a good idea at the time.

seem to do sth. 似乎/看起來/好像做某事。 I seem to have left my book at home.

It seems/seemed that 看起來好像…, 似乎…. He was very happy.

seem to be + 形容詞/名詞 = seem + 形容詞/名詞。 She seems to be happy.= She seems happy.

5. probably ad. maybe 相當於 perhaps. 也許,大概,可能。作狀語.

probably 用於句中,可能性最大。 He will probably come tomorrow.

maybe/perhaps 用於句首。 Maybe/Perhaps you are right.

1. ring / for / in 介詞,在……期間。說到某事是在某一段時間之間發生的用ring; 說到某事持續多久則用for; 說到某事具體發生的時間用in.
