一般用來表示動作或狀態的詞彙。在英語中，動詞按作用和功能主要分為兩大類，一類是謂語動詞，另一類是非謂語動詞。中文語法中表示人或事物的動作或一種動態變化，一般出現在名詞主語或主句後面。在英語里，動詞還有時態變化。
